Hay shed fire in Burramboot

FIREFIGHTERS are on scene at a hay shed fire in Burramboot.

There are four tankers on scene from Corop, Corop West, Stanhope and Colbinabbin.

Operations officer from District 20 John Cutting said 2100 lucerne bales have been destroyed along with the shed.

There is a community warning out due to the smoke in the area and the fire is likely to burn for days.

This message is being issued for Bailieston, Costerfield, Costerfield South, Glenaroua, Graytown, Heathcote, Hilldene, Majors Line, Mitchellstown, Moormbool West, Mount Camel, Nagambie, Northwood, Puckapunyal, Tabilk, Tooborac, Wirrate, Wattle Vale.

  • There is a haystack fire at Burramboot. 
  • Haystack fires are not likely to spread into grassland but will generate a lot of smoke.
  • Firefighters are attending to this fire.
  • This fire may continue to burn for several days.

There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required.

Smoke will be visible from nearby roads and communities.
